So my hubby quit smoking! hooray!!! but now his jeans are too tight! so i decided to get crafty and use them to create rag letters for Jada Roo. I got this idea from HERE. I also had a bunch of Jada's receiving blankets kicking around so i cut those up and made another alphabet set. The receiving blanket set is super soft with 2 layers of flannel and the backing is white felt. I used 3 different pattern blankets. Wouldn't you know it my sewing machine quit! no surprise there! Anyway i had to sew them by hand. I wish i knew why that machine just will not cooperate! this time it chewed my fabric inside to the bobbin then bent and broke the needle. The past few weeks it's been un threading itself. Can you tell I'm not a sewing machine kind of girl?

Felt house side 3
Well i worked on this all last night and most of this morning and here it is. Mail room sort and matching game. There is an envelope to match each mailbox. I hand stitched everything on as I'm not the worlds best machine sewer. Also you guessed it my machine is in a non cooperative mood. Oh well.....just one more side to do! I think i finally decided to do a farm. I already made a cat for it but misplaced it. Or my little helper misplaced it :) I would like to have this all finished by next Friday, we are leaving Sunday for Cuba and i want to give this to Jada Roo for Easter! Better get planning!!!!

Felt playhouse
Here are 2 sides finished. Side 3 is just about complete and i have no idea what side 4 will look like. So what do you think? keep in mind it's hard to get a good pic because i did things a bit backwards and decorated the walls after i put the whole thing together. I used 2008 as the house number for the year my daughter was born. 2008 was a very good year:)

My Easter tree
And pitiful it is lol My 18 month old seems to like it so that's what matters in this house. It's not about what the adults like or want things to look just right...it's the giddy squeal of excitement that let's you know that it's perfect and it doesn't need anymore.
This project cost about $4.00 and that was just for the cost of the eggs from the craft and dollar store. I got the branches and pussy willows from the neighborhood and the sand from Jada Roo's sandbox.

Shamrock tree
Nothing very creative to see here. Just a bunch of foam shamrocks glued to skewers and stuck in a pot of sand. It makes the daycare kids happy so it makes me happy:)

The banner is complete
I added some purple ribbon to the top, felt letters and tiny buttons that came off of Jada's onesies. I will iron the banner before use on a low setting
see This post to see how I made it from baby onesies

Onesie Birthday Banner
For almost a year now i have been trying to figure out a way to preserve time. My baby is growing up way too fast and this weekend she will be 18 months. Today i was looking at someones blog that showed a birthday banner. Now i can't find the blog but it got me thinking. First i thought wow the colors in that banner are so pretty. Then i thought hey Jada has a shirt that looks like one of the flags. I went and got the box of newly outgrown clothing and found a few onesies that had pretty patterns. I then found a cardboard box in the recycleing and cut out a triangle. I then cut the onesies up the seam and traced and cut out the triangles. I did the same with some old pillow cases for the backs of the triangles. I have so many extra pillow cases I have a shelf dedicated to them! So then i sewed them together. THEN i had a problem......My pinking shears would barely open because they are from dinosaur times! So i went out and bought a new pair and boy what a difference. My new best friend! So then i cut around the triangles. Next and lastly was to attach the binding to the top and done!!! so pretty. I'm sure all you measuring kind of people would make perfect triangles and straight seams. Like i said many times before I'm not that king of girl lol
So now I'm wondering if i should stencil out the letters with paint or should i use felt or fabric?

St.Patrick's Day t-shirt
I did this over the weekend. I have such a sinus headache i don't think I will be doing any crafting today. To make the t-shirt print i used the letters from my cricut and i used a shamrock sponge from the dollar store. It's not the best t-shirt out there for St.Patrick's day but you only Wear it once a year right?

Felt House AKA Pain in the butt!!
Dear god I will be so happy when this house is finished. Actually i think the hard part is over. Or so i think it is. Now I am getting the felt scenes ready. I choose 2008 for the house number because 2008 was a good year for me. My daughter came into the world that year and this is her house so i thought it was fitting. I just realized the first pic of the felt house looks horrid! i really must learn to straighten things before i take pics. WEll back at it!
Oh and tonight is my first tanning session of many before my trip to Cuba!!! the count down is on!
