Sensory Bin for May~Outside~

Inside our Sensory bin:
Sticks, worms, flower petals, spiders, eggs, feathers, birds, and bird seed.
We decided to take our sensory bin outside on a beautiful spring day. We emptied it into our water play table and boy was it a lot of fun. Jada loved running her hands through the bird seed and allowing it to flow through her fingers. Now that is sensory overload!
Some action pics:

Collecting all the worms

I used the inspiration for my sensory bin from this book:

Jada has had a thing for birds since she learned to say her first words. She started by calling them "shoo-shoo" because her dad used to "shoo" them away from our cars. We have a bit of a bird problem on our street.
Anyway this book follows the development of the bird in the egg right through to the birds adult years. very educational but I have to catch Jada in the right mood to get all the way through it. We often just look at the pictures. The book is geared towards the 3 years and up crowd. However, we enjoy it:)

After we played for 1.5 hours in the bin making nests, making piles, sorting etc we came inside to rest and read our book yet again.

I think I could handle a sensory bin outdoors. I love that the bird will clean up the seed that spills out.

Thanks for linking to Read.Explore.Learn.

I really like the idea of an outdoor sensory bin with bird seed. We have a bird feeder and love to watch the birds and this would just add to the fun.
