Water Works ~Science~

Looks pretty cool huh? Yeah that's what I thought when I saw it in one of my retro Martha Stewart Kids magazines.

You will need a glass jar of water, red, yellow and blue fool coloring, and a spoon.

Mix a few drop of each color into the oil

All mixed up. Now take a small spoon full and drop into your water and watch what happens...

Just a reminder of what it is supposed to look like:

At first we thought it was working but turns out not so much.

we decided to dump it out and start over and again the same result. We them dumped that out and just started adding food coloring minus the oil. In all it was a fun activity but nothing like the article said it would. Oh well we all had fun while it lasted:)

Well Little M usually ends up with black or brown paint anyway...I think she would appreciate the activity just the way it is. Thanks for sharing.

I love that last photo where she is looking so intently into the jar!

HI, I also tried to do this "water works" jar ans it was a disaster. I even try without mixing the colors. Just one by one... and they didn't drop as beautifully as that picture.

Did you try hot water? That is what we used and it worked great!
