Sidewalk Egg Fry

Did you ever hear the expression: It's so hot, you could fry an egg on the sidewalk. Well we decided to test out that expression
After a few minutes the girls broke the yolk in hope that it would help cook the eggs

Next they decided to thin the eggs with a bit of water

Then they just gave up and we fried one inside on the stove. I'm sure cooking an egg on a sidewalk is doable however, in Nova Scotia maybe not so much.

we aren't giving up on this experiment. We are going to wait for a super hot day and try it again:) Maybe on tinfoil next time

And the book:
I'm sure you all know this popular Dr.Seuss book. The funny pictures, sing-song, rhyming and silly cat. Jada gets a kick out of the pictures:)

Thanks for looking and please see my sidebar for all the great blogs I link up to:)

Lol, how cute seeing them sitting there waiting for their egg to fry! No, NS may not be the best place for it! Tell them to bring their egg here :-)

Hope you'll be linking this up to this Friday's Outdoor Play! (hint, hint!)

Awww! That's great! It's too bad that it didn't work out though! You could try making a solar oven too and see if it would work - take a pizza box, line with tinfoil shiny side out, prop oven to reflex sun onto the bottom where the egg/food would cook. We're going to try making S'mores or English Muffin pizzas this way in early September when we study the sun.

I think Myth Busters took the egg on the sidewalk on, and decided it was a myth - but I've always wanted to try it!

Oh what fun...even though it didn't work I am sure they had fun trying. I would say maybe leave a piece of metal or tinfoil out on a really hot day. Thank you for linking up to stART!!

I want to do that too! I've not done it yet, but I think with aluminum foil I might be willing to try.
