Put Me Together Robot Sensory Bin

Have you ever seen the episode of the Backyardagains where they turn into robots. Sorry my question mark on my key board is messed up. Anyway we saw this episode recently and it got me wondering if we have any robots in the house. After a bit of searching we found these two along with some nuts, screws, washers etc.  In the bin I have black beans, green lentils, screws, bolts, washers, glass beads, pipe cleaners made to look like springs, google eyes, and a big black washer that was in the drawer from when we bought our front load washer and dryer. no idea what it`s for but why not recycle it. Can`t wait to show the kiddos this bin tomorrow.

Monster Sensory Bin

Hi Guys, Yes I have been gone for a long time. I haven't even been reading other blogs as Pinterest took over my interest for a while there. Lately I have been hooked on Instagram! you can find me on there as Jadarainesmom. Jada is going to school in September can you believe that?! We are in the process of selling our house and we already found a house we want to move into, which means changing schools for Jada and as they have no bus I have to walk to and from. Anyway, busy being a mama to my own two rug rats and care giver to 6 children total each day. Life has been busy but full of surprises and love. This summer I have a older boy joining us and has been begging me for a "boy" sensory bin. I decided a monster bin would be popular as Monster University is in theaters here. I haven't shown the kids the bin yet but here it is :)

Inside is black dried beans, a handful of aquarium rock, Halloween  pumpkin decorations and styrofoam balls made into eye balls .
Thanks for looking and as always please see my sidebar for all the great blogs I link up to. Your comments are always appreciated and please check back in the comments for answers to any questions you ask :)

A mermaid Birthday

This post is long over due as Jada's birthday was in September! Oh well better late than never. Jada has been obsessed with mermaids for over a year now so it was a no brainer to come up with a Birthday party theme.
Here are some of the details. We had three different kinds of salads and had hot dogs and rolls. It just so happened that Gage's baptism was that morning so we had a full house. Thankfully it was a nice day so we could celebrate outside
6 months later and we still have the mermaid balloon
My sister made this great mermaid cake. It was three different kinds of cake inside

These awesome little labels came from here perfect to cover the chubby bottles of pop
I bought the mermaid pillowcase dress from here
And what mermaid party would be complete without a mermaid present.

My Cowboy turns 1

I can't believe my boy is a year old!
My boy was destined to be a cowboy ever since he was 3 months old. Yes, you read that right. When Gage was 3 months old my dad bought him his first pellet gun (The red rider). Ever since then I have started decorating his room and searching all things Cowboy. This included searching Pinterest and Etsy and I came upon this adorable Wanted poster, I knew Gage's Birthday had to be about cowboys.
I bought the wanted poster and hung it on our front door to greet our cowboys and girls to our party

Then I found THE cake on pinterest (sorry it doesn't link to anywhere but a pic.). My sister graciously made the cake and it was perfect!

I bought Daddy a matching shirt from Etsy
This was our welcome table. Bananas, hats and badges. All purchased from various sellers on Ebay
I bought these cones from Etsy. Some guests used them to hold their hot dog while others used them for popcorn.
Jada helping herself to some popcorn. Believe it or not the popcorn was the most popular food at the party

This was the table before the hot dogs made it in from the BBQ.  I didn't get a closer picture but to the right of the picture was marshmallows on a skewer. The kids 'Roasted" them on Gage's Birthday present. keep reading to see his gifts
I sewed three bananas together to make a table runner

These are pics of pics but they really capture my thumb sucker's personality

His gun that started the whole cowboy party planning. Can you believe I got the chaps in a hand me down bag! talk about perfect timing and luck
Yes the teacher in me had to incorporate in a Cowboy sensory bin

And here is the gifts we made our little Cowpoke. I actually bought the tent from Etsy but had to make some revisions once I purchased it. We had to add holes to the front and back and attach a ribbon because the sent kept collapsing. I bought the pattern for the fire from here.  I'm embarrassed to say that we didn't get it completed in time for his party but it was still a hit. We just needed to attach the logs to the bottom of the fire.

And my Cowboy all tuckered out from a busy day of partying.

Camp Fire play

This is actually a prototype for Gage's birthday present but the kids love it the way it is. They have been getting lots of use out of our tree branch blocks too. So much so, that we added to our collection
we just got a image from google images blew it up at staples and traced onto wood. Cut the wood our painted and nailed it together. Probably would have been better to use a super holding glue. Like I said this is a prototype and I will post new pics in a new post once hubby get it finished.
In other news, I am about to head on out to Cuba for some much needed warmth from the glorious sun. Oh how I have missed it

Rainbow Puzzle

Jada and I painted this awesome rainbow puzzle that we bought unfinished from Etsy. We just painted it and sealed it with modpodge. It's a favorite in our classroom and built to last for many years to come.
