Spring Laundry

Yesterday was such a beautiful day I hung out some laundry on the line to dry. Jada was trailing behind asking "Me help mommy?" So it dawned on me maybe we should make this an activity

I removed the furniture from one side of our play room and set up a simple twine clothes line. I had some mini clothespins and a few pieces of baby baby clothes. Great activity but clothespins are very difficult for little hands to maneuver. We broke a few pins in the process of learning to use them correctly.

They had a mini clothes basket for storing the dried laundry. They were also encouraged to help fold the laundry. It's raining here in N.S. so when the sun reappears we will set this activity up outside with some bigger clothespins.

And later this morning Jada worked on her Easter lacing activity. Not before removing her pony tails SIGH.....

April Activity Trays

Blogger is making me crazy so with changing my photos all around! So I give up and I'm letting blogger do it's thing. You can all see what the trays are so no need for captions. When I add the captions it makes my pictures go wonky! I got the idea for the alphabet eggs from Playing House. I really hope this problem with blogger is only temporary

Fun Friday~April Fools Day

Frog bath cling and placing small beads onto the suction cups. I have no idea who started the bath tub cling craze but it's genius!

Busy at work

Today is P.J. Friday and as a last minute prank I made her a beard to fool her friends. She thought it was way too funny

I will post April's activity trays on Monday. As far as the sensory bin goes I will post that in the middle of the month so please stay tuned:)

Breakfast Routine

Excuse the bed head we were up at 5:20 to drive daddy to the airport. So yeah I'm a single mom for the next 54 days. Sigh........ So in these pictures we just got home from dropping daddy off and we were super hungry. Jada has a unhealthy love for butter. She sneaks it whenever she can. We find finger prints in the butter dish all. of. the. time. So I let her butter her own toast and she was on cloud 9

I think more butter got in her mouth than on her toast but it's a learning curve ha-ha!

These are a few of our favorite things

My brother gave Jada a gift card to Toys R Us for Christmas, we just got around to spending it this past Saturday. Jada helped pick out this Melissa and Doug cookie decorating kit. Honestly I thought she would play with it for a few minutes then forget about it. However, she has been playing with it ever since she opened it. In these pics she was having a quick play session before bed.

I love the quality Melissa and Doug make their toys. Especially since we have a puppy who chews everything in sight these days!

My little ham:) She wasn't interested in the play knife but decorating over and over again her "hot, hot" cookies was the highlight of this play session.

Dinner time Routines

We added the mini pitcher of milk to help Jada with her poring skills and we hoped this would keep her away from the heavy container of milk until she is ready to handle one.

Well it worked SORT of.... She is really, really good at pouring her milk, the problem is that she then pours her glass of milk back into the pitcher. I figured out pretty quickly that once she fills her glass the pitcher needs to be put away until her glass is empty.
Now a UPDATE on this post. I heard back from THIS seller and she agreed to ship to Canada! Hooray!!! now we just wait for our new place mat. She has reasonable prices too! Don't get me wrong Jada is perfectly happy with the one I made but I'm not. HA! Also it would be nice to have two in case of a spill or two or ten??
I only fill this tiny pitcher half way. Next week I will fill it and the next week we will move to a slightly larger pitcher. You get the idea. As she masters one skill we extend the activity to create a larger task to master and complete.
Another Update: My back is now only sore on the left side when I reach for something. So when i said that I probably wouldn't be posting much because my back hurt I didn't realize that sitting and taking it easy would be so boring! so I had lots of time to write up a few posts and read Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear a few hundred times to my little love.
Oh and in case anyone was wondering I do Jada's hair in pig tails every morning and she pulls them out in the first 20 minutes. One of these days I will get a picture with her hair done.
