Mama Made

Pillow case ghost chair covers. These don't fit my chairs:( I have huge kitchen chairs so I will have to add some panels to the sides later. Oh and run an iron over them wouldn't hurt either...
To make these all you need are some dollar store white pillow cases and some black and white felt. I used my glue gun to glue the felt on. I'm sure you could find many ways to attach your felt so they could be washable. For me this works and if I have to wash the cases it's really not a huge problem to glue the pieces on again. The designs you could make are endless!

UPDATE:
Wow sometimes the most simple answer to your problem is right in front of you. I asked myself why I made these ghosts and of course the answer is that they are for Jada Roo. So why not have them displayed for her on her play table? Problem solved! They are a bit long but I'm sure Jada won't mind:) I love a happy ending........

Trick Or Treat Bunting made from felt and I painted the letters on with stencils I made with my cricut.

Eye Spy and Color Sort

Eye spy bottles are a lot of fun. Jada and her friends have been shaking the bottle looking for the hidden Halloween objects. They are easy to make and free if you have rice, pasta and a few odds and ends already in your craft stash.

First you need to mix food coloring and just a splash of rubbing alcohol. Spread on a piece of wax paper to dry.

Next pick your objects you want to hide.

Then all you have to do is put it all in a empty water bottle. And that's it hours of play for free!

Color Sorting

I found the wooden divided bowl last weekend at the thrift store. It was a lucky find:)
I started by showing her how each color has it's own side of the bowl.

She needed a bit of gentle reminding that the colors are to be sorted not mixed. She finished in no time at all and emptied the bowl and started over again

Itsy Bitsy Spider Scooping

This morning we came down the stairs and Jada went right to the spider scooping activity tray. Before I could even introduce the activity she was making herself busy scooping the spiders and pouring them into the pumpkins.

I had to use some grip it so the tray and pumpkins wouldn't slide all around.

So many spiders so little time

Stay tuned for more Halloween activities this week!

Happy Thanksgiving

Every year we go to Howard Dill's pumpkin patch and every year we take a picture by the pumpkin turkey.

Jada taking a ride in the pumpkin cart

Look at that expression! determination for sure

This year we went with the Findlay family. Thanks for the great day! I hope they had fun apple picking afterwards.
This year I am thankful for so many things so I will make it short and sweet family, friends (old and new), and our health.
What are you thankful for?

For the love of Gourds

For as long as I can remember I have always had gourds around the house for fall. This year I put them in various locations in our living room. Every night after I put Jada to bed I find them in new secret places that Jada doesn't think anyone can find.

On our coffee table

Last night I found them here. Please do not look at my dust! cleaning lady is coming this week:)

I have found them in baskets under the television, our potato box, in the drawers and cupboards. She shows them to the cat and talks gibberish as though the cat and her have a secret language the rest of us just would never understand.
I am so happy Jada has the same love as I do for gourds

Thrifty Finds

I love Thrift shopping. Now that I am changing our learning environment around I see things that we can use. In the past I saw it as junk, but now it feels like I won the lottery when I find wood pieces, unusual tongs or baskets.
Today's Thrifty finds:
Roll of green Grip it
Wood divided dish
2 sets of tongs
1 nut dish shaped like a heart/leaf
1 glass container
1 Cuba jewelery box
Red Christmas box decorations
2 plastic eggs that open (perfect for next months theme)
1 frame for my personal use
And not pictured I found the perfect gift for someone that is very hard to buy for. It will be a vintage present but I'm sure this person will love it. I am so excited to give it as a gift, it's perfect. I will post pictures after Christmas.
Last week I saw a real pipe with tobacco still in it and I wished that I bought it. I thought who on earth would buy that? Well today I searched for it but it was gone:( I wanted it to make a snowman kit.
Over all it was a great adventure for me and little Jada, filled with lots of "mine!", "Mommy, Mommy" (In other words I want this please buy it) and giggles when she discovered herself in a mirror in the shoe section. We brought my sister and niece along too. Jada thought it was great fun to chase Eden around and find lots of mischief together. We had a great morning!
