Pirate Shipwreck

So thanks to Disney's Jake and the Never Land Pirates we have a wee obsession with Pirates around here. I found it really hard to find pirate stuff at the dollar store which is strange because everywhere you look in N.S. every summer is pirates this and that. So I made my own peg pirates (girl and boy) and searched Etsy and bought a wood pirate from Armadillo dreams.
Now whats in the bin?
Rice as filler to look like white sand, wood gold coins, parrots, red X marks the spot, blue anchor, foam sponge shapes, palm trees, treasure chest, homemade Jolly Rodger flag and a fake pearl bracelet. I might add some silver dollars to the bin later

Our favorite book for our pirate theme is How I Became A Pirate by
Melinda Long and David Shannon. This book teaches you how to speak pirate and takes you along on a great sea voyage adventure.

Bike/Scooter Painting

It was such a beautiful day here in Nova Scotia yesterday. We took full advantage and tried something new. We have done car and truck painting but wanted to do it again on a much larger scale:)

Jada setting herself up to make some tred marks

It was a bit windy yesterday so the rocks helped hold the paper down

Jada grew tired of this actvity after a while and decided to do boot painting:)

Fairy Sensory Bin

This month we have decided to focus on Fairies and make believe. I had great luck at a thrift store and found a fairy house, mushrooms and hedgehogs. The rest of the things in the bin we already had. It was Jada's idea to add the little dish of Fairy treasures.

Tray Work

Hi everyone! just stopping by with some new trays:

spooning rice into a funnel

Arranging flowers and leaves

dressing

vintage lacing boards

And counting pompoms. I am cleaning out my kitchen and decided I didn't want or use this magnetic spice tin and holder. I had it at daycare for a few weeks now not knowing what I should do with it until I realized we haven't been doing enough counting activities. Pompoms are nice and quiet as the children drop them into the tin ;)

April Trays

Wowzers it's been a while since I posted eh? Gage will be one month old on Friday and this is my first week back to work. Hubby is still away working so I'm single parenting these days. Too much to get caught up on and too little time to do it. Anyway here are this months trays:) above is a wood matching game
Another magnet page by Making learning fun
Tweezing eggs with unique tongsI added a egg to our open and close basket. It's pretty cool because the egg has to line up just right for it to close
Poring beans. Recycled from last months sensory bin
And last stickers. Jada has a sticker obsession so this is a great tray for her. Lots of things you can do with stickers including decorate your own clothes with them lol
I will be back soon with new pics of the little man:) thanks for looking and please see my sidebar for all the great blogs I link up to
